ABOUT ECOAGRIS
An agricultural information system serving West Africa
Following the adoption of ECOWAP/CAADP in January 2005, and in response to the shortcomings of existing information systems in member countries, ECOWAS, in collaboration with partner institutions, decided to establish an integrated information system for the agricultural sector called “ECOAGRIS.”
The objective of ECOAGRIS is to provide decision-makers with reliable data, information, and analysis to support the formulation and monitoring of agricultural development policies and strategies, improve the management of food security challenges in West Africa, and promote trade in agri-food products.
The pilot phase of ECOAGRIS (October 2010 – August 2013) was implemented under the EU-IFAD-ECOWAS Food Facility Programme, which received funding from the European Union in December 2008.
